 Mark Mothersbaugh has been devoted to the visual arts since before the formation of his band DEVO as an art project in the early seventies. Installing Spin Chain the Gears *, Mothersbaugh first museum exhibition focused on sculpture, hand painted ceramic figures, plus music, wall drawings and references to the tradition of square dancing (a type of folk dance related Americans in the nineteenth century) pioneers. The installation reflects the interest shown by the artist long for the relationship between the concepts of control and game.

 (* “Spin chain the gears” is a phrase that is used to indicate a step change in the square dancing.
